Cyclone Mobility FES system now with motorised arm crank
Cyclone Mobility FES
Cyclone Mobility & Fitness, the exclusive distributor of the RT300 Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) system in the UK, has announced that the RT300 is now available with an optional motorised arm crank instead of handlebars. The RT300 is the only electrical stimulation product that enables spinally injured or stroke patients to comfortably undertake passive, volitionally active or electronically stimulated activity using their arms or legs. This helps to relax muscle spasms, prevent or reduce disuse atrophy, increase local blood circulation and maintain or increase the range of motion.

The new arm crank, which rotates the arms in a cycling motion, is used with electrical stimulation to biceps, triceps and supraspinatus – as well as anterior and posterior deltoid if used with one arm only. An electrical current stimulates the nerves to evoke muscle contractions and with the creation of a patterned movement of the arms, it enables the muscles to perform active cycling even if the user has lost voluntary control of those muscles. The machine can provide assistance or resistance depending on the strength and endurance of the user and can stimulate muscle groups in just one impaired arm or both – it can be entirely customised to the needs and performance level of the individual.

The RT300 is straightforward to set up and easy to use. It can be accessed directly from the wheelchair without transfer and is not only portable and compact, but its wheels make it effortless to move around. It has a touch sensitive, colour display for simple operation and connects to the Internet, enabling users to monitor their progress and optimise results. The RT300 Internet connection automatically loads therapy parameters and saves results, promoting both safety and efficiency. It also comes with a wide range of grips and arm rests for optimum comfort.

Stuart Dunne, founder of Cyclone Mobility & Fitness, says: “We believe that the RT300 is one of the most important therapy products on the market. Its advanced technology is helping with the treatment of neurological damage as it's used to evoke physical activity and exercise, which is otherwise not possible. Should there be spinal injury cure someday, users of the RT300 will have prepared their bodies to take advantage of such an eventuality.”

The RT300 and RT300 with arm crank are both available now from Cyclone Mobility from £8,995.00.
