Drive Medical - Rigid walking frames

An Urgent Field Safety Notice has been issued for Drive Medical's Rigid Walking Frames

The walking frames are from batch FOR-1642. Model reference 10281W-1 to 10287W-1

A small number of standard and wheeled Drive walking frames from the above batches may have loose screws on the main frame. This is the result of incorrect assembly of some screws fitted with a soft plastic washer. There is a risk of injury from the frame becoming unstable or collapsing as a result of a detached fastener.

Subsequent batches supplied after 26 May 2010 have been fitted with a sprung metal washer to prevent this from happening in the future. Models with this new specification feature a red dot on the CE label and are unaffected by this problem.

The screws on affected frames should be visually checked for tightness of fit. There should be no gaps in the frame and the frame should not shake or appear loose.
